Pumps and compressors are generally critical machines in any production process, and hence it is vital that maintenance is most effective for these units. This course aims to provide delegates with a comprehensive understanding of how to use a combined predictive and preventive maintenance approach to achieve maximum reliability and greatest understanding of any deterioration that may occur.

Who Should Attend

Engineers, supervisory and technical staff involved in the monitoring, predictive maintenance and diagnostics of pumps and compressors.

Program Objectives

The program assumes familiarity with the design and construction of pumps and compressors. From this starting point it adopts an analytical approach to understanding the failure of all types of pumps and compressors.

From a component-by-component perspective, the program investigates the root causes of failure, and relates these to operating conditions and process parameters. Design, installation, lubrication and wear related failure mechanisms are identified and a detailed understanding of the troubleshooting and diagnostic methods needed to detect and identify these is developed.

The program provides participants with the knowledge needed to be effective in the inspection, monitoring and diagnostics of pumps and compressors, with emphasis placed upon the importance of a combined condition monitoring and strip-down inspection approach to maintenance.

Training Methodology

The program is delivered in a combination of lecture style and computer-based training. In addition, a significant amount of time is set aside for small working group activity when addressing case study problems. Extensive use is made of case study material to underline the key aspects of the course and to give the delegates exposure to current best practice.

Rotating equipment like turbines, compressors, turboexpanders etc are very important equipment to any process plants. Normally, there are a lot of machinery problems associate to these equipment such as misalignment unbalance, fluid induces instability etc which will interrupt the smooth running and effect its efficiency, thus interrupting the production of the plant. There are various established techniques to troubleshoot this machinery problems which are accepted and established internationally and understanding and mastering such knowledge and skills will be of extreme benefits to the operating plants in ensuring a continuous flow of production by minimizing downtime upon knowing the actual problems of the respective machines. Hence, The Rotating Equipment Engineer (REE) needs to know how to solve the problem and ensure that all new and existing rotating equipment installations are completed in accordance with applicable standards, and support repairs/upgrades to rotating equipment. They also need to know how to prevent equipment defects. This training is designed to give knowledge and skill on operation, maintenance, protection, control, troubleshooting and Failure of electric motor that many used in industries. Electrical motors are the “workhorses” of industry and are the most widely used electrical machines. Applications of electrical motor can be found in industries, electric transportation, robotics, process control and energy conservation. This course gives a thorough understanding of electrical motor’s working, control , protection, maintenance, failure modes and the tools to maintain and troubleshoot electrical motors. This course also covers electrical motor starting and speed control .

Reliability-based maintenance (RBM) and condition-based maintenance (CBM) strategies are now widely used by industry, and health monitoring of electrical motor and drives. Motor current signature analysis (MCSA) use to diagnose faults in induction motor drives. MCSA is a noninvasive, online monitoring technique for the diagnosis of problems in induction motors. Participant will gain a fundamental understanding of the electrical motor, installation, operation, maintenance, failure and troubleshooting. Participant will gain valuable insight into the selection of the protection necessary to ensure motors are protected against fault conditions, so as to ensure reliability and long life. Computer simulations are used for understanding of electrical motor operation, maintenance, failure and troubleshooting.

After successfully completing this course, Participants will able to do the following:

This course covers AC/DC electrical motor drives for speed/position control. It presents an integrated discussion of AC/DC electric motor, power electronics, and control systems. Applications of electric drives can be found in industries, electric transportation, robotics, process control and energy conservation. This course gives a thorough understanding of AC/DC electrical motor’s working, control , protection, maintenance, failure modes and the tools to maintain and troubleshoot AC/DC electrical motors drives. The course focuses on the dc and ac motor from solid state converters for better torque and speed response. Advanced control techniques are applied to optimize the performance of dc/ac motor drives. Since majority of modern drives are dc/ac motor drives, the course centers around the control of dc/ac motor drives.

Participant will gain a fundamental understanding of the AC/DC electrical motor drives, installation, operation and troubleshooting. Participant will gain valuable insight into the selection of the protection necessary to ensure your motors are protected against fault conditions, so as to ensure reliability and long life. Finally, control aspects of some special motors, such as permanent magnet synchronous motor, brushless dc motor, switched reluctance motor, etc. Computer simulations are used for understanding AC/DC electric motor, power-electronics based converters and the design of control systems.

Strategi Kaizen adalah konsep tunggal dalam manajemen Jepang yang paling penting – kunci sukses Jepang dalam meraih persaingan. KAIZEN berarti perbaikan berkesinambungan yang melibatkan semua orang – baik manajemen puncak, manajer, supervisor maupun karyawan.

Konsep Kaizen dibagi dalam 3 segmen, yaitu Pertama, berorientasi pada manajemen. Manajemen Jepang umumnya percaya bahwa seorang manajer harus menggunakan 50% waktunya untuk penyempurnaan. Mulai dengan mengidentifikasi “pemborosan” maupun “aktivitas karyawan.” Kedua, berorientasi pada kelompok “gugus kendali mutu” dan “aktivitas kelompok kecil” untuk mengidentifikasi penyebab masalah, menganalisis, melaksanakan, mencoba tindakan baru, dan menetapkan standar/ prosedur baru. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) adalah suatu professional manajemen tentang perawatan mesin. TPM bukanlah sekedar teori tetapi dikembangkan dari best practice dan menjadi suatu proven method yang telah diterapkan di berbagai penjuru dunia.

TPM adalah salah satu tools yang diimplementasikan pada konsep Lean Manufacturing yang berfokus pada Lead Time yang pendek. Dengan kata lain, tools yang dipakai pada perawatan mesin untuk menghasilkan lead time yang pendek dari keseluruhan suatu proses adalah TPM.

Sasaran utama dari konsep TPM adalah pencapaian Zero Breakdown, Zero Defect dan Zero Accident. Didalam konsep perawatan mesin yang konvensional, perawatan mesin diserahkan sepenuhnya kepada departemen Maintenance / Engineering. Tetapi dengan konsep TPM maka tanggung jawab perawatan mesin juga melibatkan departemen terkait seperti Produksi, Planning (PPIC) dan Purchasing.

Dalam training ini akan lebih dikedepankan pada proses pembelajaran melalui training TPM untuk merubah Pola Pikir, Orang dan System. Setelah itu hasilnya akan merubah area kerja kita (mesin, lingkungan kerja, system dan lain sebagainya).
